What is more beautiful in spring than fresh flowers on the table? Would not they just wither! A beautiful idea for long-lasting and ever-blooming spring bouquets are flowers made of tissue paper. Whether tied to a beautiful bouquet or individually placed in vases - we will show you how to make the colorful silk flowers - even with children.

1. Cut tissue paper
Pick a bow of colored tissue paper. I bought tissue paper on rolls because it is nice and wide (about 65 centimeters). Of this I have two longitudinal strips, each 20 centimeters per flower needed. If your paper sheet is narrower, you may need another strip. You do not have to cut off two strips. It is sufficient if you fold the paper sheet once after 20 centimeters and then cut off the strips.
Tip: In this step, you are welcome to include the little ones. Cutting tissue paper is easy.
2. Fold tissue paper
Lay the two strips of paper over each other and fold them along like an accordion. Fold the paper once after 2-4 centimeters (depending on how big the petal should be). Then turn the paper strip to the other side and fold it at the same distance. Repeat this process until the entire strip is unfolded.
Tip: When tinkering with small children, you can pre-fold the tissue paper once and have the children repeat the step until the strips are unfolded.
3. Determine the shape of the silk flower
Now the outer ends are cut in. The shape that you are now cutting determines how the petals will look later. I have decided here for a pointed and two rounded ends. A flat curve makes the flower look like a rose later. For example, if you cut three narrow and long spikes, the silk flower looks similar to a cornflower (the blue silk flower for me).
4. Insert the chenille wire
Now comes the chenille wire, also known as pipe cleaners used. Trim it with the pliers to the length in which you want the style later. Place the middle of the wire on half of the tissue paper and then twist it together. This is how the floral style is created. Tighten the wire properly so that the flower at the top has a good grip. It does not matter if the wire squeezes the tissue paper a little bit.
5. Pull apart the silk flowers
Now the silky petals are carefully pulled apart. It takes time and should be done carefully. Otherwise the tissue paper can tear down quickly. Small children should just watch this step, or fold the silk flower together with care.
6. Adjust the silk flowers
Finally, pluck the flowers into a beautiful shape - then the flower made of tissue paper is already finished. Individually placed in glass vases, the silk flowers are great!
But you can also place all the flowers in a large vase and put them on the table as an evergreen spring bouquet.
Tip: Tissue paper flowers are great as a decoration for a present. Or tied together at the pipe cleaners as a flowery headdress for the little ones, as well as a spring garland for the next party.
